The objectives of the Animal Health Network focus on promoting evidence-based risk assessment practices and methodologies, as well as research initiatives. It advocates for harmonised data collection and surveillance activities in the area of animal health, including all associated subgroups. The network aims to improve data quality for animal health risk assessment purposes, promote best practices, and enhance cooperation and partnerships in the field of animal health improving dialogue on new scientific developments and research activities.

The objectives of the Animal Welfare Network focus on facilitating and promoting the harmonisation of animal welfare assessment practices and methodologies. It aims to enhance cooperation and strengthen partnerships between EFSA and EU Member States in the field of animal welfare. The network focuses on promoting and protecting animal welfare by sharing best practices in animal welfare assessment and identifying common research and data needs to support advancements in animal welfare risk assessment ensuring alignment and knowledge exchange between EFSA and EU Member States.

As of May 2025, the Animal Health and Welfare Network has been divided into two separate networks: the Animal Health Network and Animal Welfare Network.

The Network on Veterinary Entomology (NVE) aims to strengthen collaboration and exchange of information among involved stakeholders to support the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases (VBDs) in the Member States (MS) of the EU and in neighbouring countries. Given that VBDs require a one-health approach in their prevention and control, the network will work closely together with the Operational Contact Points (OCPs), nominated by the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC), representing the entomologists working in the human public health sector. Together they will constitute the One-Health VectorNet Entomological Network (OHVEN).
