Additivi u Aromatizzanti tal-Ikel

Il-Bord dwar l-Additivi u l-Aromatizzanti tal-Ikel (FAF)* jevalwa s-sikurezza tas-sustanzi kimiċi miżjuda mal-ikel u l-esponiment tal-konsumatur għalihom. Il-ħidma tal-Bord tikkonċerna prinċipalment sustanzi evalwati mill-EFSA qabel ma l-użu tagħhom ikun jista’ jiġi awtorizzat fl-UE.

Il-Membri tal-Bord tal-FAF huma xjenzati minn madwar l-Ewropa b’għarfien espert f’dawn li ġejjin:

  • Valutazzjoni tar-riskju kimiku u valutazzjoni tas-sikurezza tal-addittivi tal-ikel u tas-sustanzi aromatizzanti
  • Tossikoloġija (fil-mammiferi): tossiċità subkronika u kronika (studji b’dożi ripetuti), ġenotossiċità u mutaġeniċità, tossiċità tal-iżvilupp u riproduttiva, karċinoġeniċità, allerġeniċità u immunotossiċità
  • Ittestjar tat-tossiċità f’annimali sperimentali u ttestjar alternattiv tat-tossiċità
  • Tossikokinetika u tossikodinamika (ADME - assorbiment, distribuzzjoni, metaboliżmu, u eskrezzjoni) ta’ sustanzi
  • Kimika (kimika organika, inorganika, analitika u sintetika), speċjalment għall-identifikazzjoni u l-ispeċifikazzjoni kimika tas-sustanzi kimiċi
  • Stħarriġ dwar il-konsum u l-valutazzjoni ta’ esponiment
  • Teknoloġija alimentari (proċessi ta’ manifattura u użu ta’ addittivi tal-ikel)

*Il-Bord tal-FAF jkompli l-ħidma f’ħafna mill-oqsma li qabel kienu koperti mill-Bord preċedenti dwar l-Addittivi tal-Ikel u s-Sorsi tan-Nutrijenti Miżjuda mal-Ikel (ANS). Barra minn hekk, ħa f’idejh ir-responsabbiltà għall-evalwazzjoni tal-aromatizzanti mill-Bord tas-CEF preċedenti filwaqt li għadda r-responsabbiltà għall-evalwazzjoni tas-sorsi tan-nutrijenti lill-Bord tal-NDA.
