Aditivos e aromatizantes alimentares

O Painel dos Aditivos Alimentares e dos Aromatizantes (FAF)* avalia a segurança das substâncias químicas adicionadas aos alimentos e a respetiva exposição dos consumidores. O trabalho do Painel diz respeito principalmente a substâncias avaliadas pela EFSA antes de a sua utilização poder ser autorizada na UE.

Os membros do Painel FAF são cientistas de toda a Europa com experiência em:

  • Avaliação de risco químico e avaliação de segurança dos aditivos alimentares e das substâncias aromatizantes
  • Toxicologia (mamíferos): toxicidade subcrónica e crónica (estudos de dose repetida), genotoxicidade e mutagenicidade, toxicidade reprodutiva e do desenvolvimento, carcinogenicidade, alergenicidade e imunotoxicidade
  • Teste de toxicidade em animais para experiências e teste de toxicidade alternativo
  • Toxicocinética e toxicodinâmica (ADME – absorção, distribuição, metabolismo e excreção) de substâncias
  • Química (química orgânica, inorgânica, analítica e sintética), sobretudo no que se refere à identificação química e especificação das substâncias químicas
  • Avaliação da exposição e inquéritos de consumo
  • Tecnologia alimentar (processos de fabrico e utilização de aditivos alimentares)

* O Painel FAF continua o trabalho na maioria das áreas anteriormente cobertas pelo anterior Painel dos Aditivos Alimentares e Fontes de Nutrientes Adicionados a Géneros Alimentícios (ANS). Além disso, assumiu a responsabilidade pela avaliação de aromatizantes do anterior Painel CEF, tendo transferido a responsabilidade pela avaliação de fontes de nutrientes para o Painel NDA.
