Prehrambeni aditivi i arome

Povjerenstvo za prehrambene aditive i arome (FAF)* ocjenjuje sigurnost kemijskih tvari koje se dodaju hrani i izloženost potrošača tim tvarima. Rad povjerenstva uglavnom se bavi tvarima koje je procijenila EFSA prije nego što se odobri njihova upotreba u EU-u.

Članovi povjerenstva za FAF znanstvenici su iz cijele Europe sa znanjem i iskustvom u sljedećim područjima:

  • procjena kemijskog rizika i procjena sigurnosti prehrambenih aditiva i aromatičnih tvari
  • toksikologija (sisavaca): subkronična i kronična toksičnost (ispitivanja višekratnih doza), genotoksičnost i mutagenost, razvojna i reproduktivna toksičnost, karcinogenost, alergenost i imunotoksičnost
  • ispitivanje toksičnosti na životinjama za pokuse i alternativno ispitivanje toksičnosti
  • toksikokinetika i toksikodinamika (ADME – apsorpcija, distribucija, metabolizam i izlučivanje) tvari
  • kemija (organska, anorganska, analitička i sintetička kemija), posebice za kemijsku identifikaciju i specifikaciju kemijskih tvari
  • procjena izloženosti i ispitivanja konzumacije
  • prehrambena tehnologija (proizvodni procesi i upotreba prehrambenih aditiva).

Povjerenstvo za FAF nastavlja rad u većini područja koja su bila obuhvaćena prijašnjim Povjerenstvom za prehrambene aditive i izvore hranjivih tvari koje se dodaju hrani (ANS). Uz to, Povjerenstvo je preuzelo odgovornost za ocjenjivanje aroma od prethodnog povjerenstva za CEF, a odgovornost za ocjenjivanje izvora hranjivih tvari predalo je Povjerenstvu za NDA.
