Živilski aditivi in arome

Svet za živilske aditive in arome (FAF)* ocenjuje varnost kemičnih snovi, dodanih hrani, in izpostavljenost potrošnikov tem snovem. Delo sveta se nanaša predvsem na snovi, ki jih agencija EFSA oceni, preden se lahko njihova uporaba odobri v EU.

Člani sveta za živilske aditive in arome so znanstveniki iz vse Evrope s strokovnim znanjem na področju:

  • ocenjevanja tveganja v zvezi s kemičnimi snovmi in ocenjevanja varnosti živilskih aditivov in aromatičnih snovi;
  • toksikologije (za sesalce) – subkronične in kronične toksičnosti (študije pri ponovljenih odmerkih), genotoksičnosti in mutagenosti, razvojne in reproduktivne toksičnosti, rakotvornosti, alergenosti in imunotoksičnosti;
  • preskušanja toksičnosti pri poskusnih živalih in alternativnih preskusov toksičnosti;
  • toksikokinetike in toksikodinamike (absorpcije, distribucije, presnove, izločanja) snovi;
  • kemije (organske, anorganske, analizne in sintezne kemije), zlasti za kemijsko identifikacijo in specifikacijo kemičnih snovi;
  • ocenjevanja izpostavljenosti in raziskav o zaužitju;
  • živilske tehnologije (proizvodni procesi in uporaba živilskih aditivov).

*Svet za živilske aditive in arome nadaljuje delo na večini področij, ki jih je prej pokrival nekdanji svet za aditive za živila in hranilne vire, dodane živilom (ANS). Poleg tega je prevzel odgovornost za ocenjevanje arom od nekdanjega sveta za materiale, namenjene za stik z živili, encime in pomožna tehnološka sredstva, odgovornost za ocenjevanje virov hranil pa je predal svetu za prehrano, nova živila in alergene v živilih.
