Remunerated External Experts (REE)

The Remunerated External Experts (REE) framework regulated by Article 242 of the Financial Regulation enables EFSA to access specialised expertise whenever scientific or operational opinion and advice is required using the following schemes:

  • ISA - Individual Scientific Advisors for Scientific and Technical Support in the area of the assessment of Animal Health and Animal Welfare, Biological Hazards and Chemical contaminants, Pesticides, Plant health, Genetically Modified Organisms for food and feed uses, Food Additives, Food Contact Materials, Food Enzymes, Food flavourings, Feed additives, Novel Foods, Nutrition
  • OSA - Operational Support Advisors for expert advice in the area of Communication, Digital and Social Science

Call for scientific and technical support

EFSA is establishing a list of scientists to assist its units in carrying out the preparatory work in support of EFSA’s scientific and risk communication activities with the main focus on the areas of generic risk assessments and the assessment of applications for the authorisation of regulated products, in particular in the areas of Animal Health and Animal Welfare, Biological hazards and Chemical contaminants, Pesticides, Plant health, Genetically Modified Organisms for food and feed uses, Food Additives, Food Contact Materials, Food Enzymes, Food Flavourings, Feed additives, Novel Foods, Nutrition.

In most cases, these support tasks will be carried out remotely and the results delivered electronically. In certain cases, EFSA may request that specific tasks are carried out at EFSA premises.

The list resulting from this call for expression of interests and any further updates are valid until maximum 17/10/2027, five years from the first publication of the open call for expressions of interest (CEI). To find out more, please consult the documents below.

OSA scheme

Call for expert advice in the area of Communication, Digital and Social Science

EFSA is establishing a list of individuals (natural persons) with expertise to assist EFSA in communication, digital and social sciences activities.

In most of the cases, tasks will be carried out remotely and delivered using electronic communication tools. In certain cases, EFSA may request that specific tasks are carried out in EFSA premises or other sites that will be mentioned in the contract specifications.

The list resulting from this call for expression of interests and any further updates are valid until maximum 28/05/2031, five years from the first publication of the open call for expressions of interest (CEI). To find out more, please consult the documents below.
