Webinar: Learn more about the risk assessment of phthalates used in plastic food contact materials
The goal of the webinar was to:
- present the main outcomes of the draft assessment of the risks for human health deriving from single and/or combined exposure to five phthalates that are authorised for use in plastic food contact materials (FCM), i.e. DBP (dibutyl phthalate), BBP (butyl benzyl phthalate), DEHP (Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate), DINP (diisononyl phthalate) and DIDP (diisodecyl phthalate);
- give context to the public consultation on this draft opinion, which was endorsed by the EFSA Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes and Processing Aids (CEP Panel) on 6 February 2019. Further information on the public consultation, which is open until 14 April 2019, can be found here.
During the webinar participants had the opportunity to submit written questions, which were answered either in writing or orally. Some questions were not answered during the webinar but answers were sent directly to the relevant attendees following the event.
