Toidutarneahelas olevad saasteained

Toidutarneahelas olevate saasteainete teaduskomisjon (CONTAM-komisjon) annab teadusnõuandeid toidutarneahelas olevate saasteainete ja ebasoovitavate ainete kohta, näiteks looduslikud toksilised ained, mükotoksiinid ja loata ainete jäägid.

CONTAM-komisjoni liikmed on teadlased kogu Euroopast, kellel on eksperditeadmised järgmistes valdkondades:

  • keemia – orgaaniline, anorgaaniline, analüütiline keemia, toidu ja sööda töötlemine keemiliste saasteainete valdkonnas
  • kokkupuute hindamine – eelkõige on nõutavad eksperditeadmised seoses keemiliste saasteainetega toidu kaudu kokkupuute hindamisega, sealhulgas teadmised toidu tarbimise uuringutest
  • inimeste ja loomade toksikoloogia (kemikaalide riskihindamisel) – ainete imendumine, jaotumine, metabolism ja eritumine (toksikokineetika ja toksikodünaamika), subkrooniline ja krooniline toksilisus (korduvannuse süsteemse toksilisuse uuringud), genotoksilisus ja mutageensus, arengut ja paljunemisvõimet kahjustav toksiline toime, kantserogeensus, allergeensus ja immuuntoksilisus
  • toksikoloogilised uuringud katseloomadega – keemiliste saasteainete toksiliste toimete tõlgendamine põllumajandus- ja lemmikloomadel
  • epidemioloogia – mõju ja kokkupuute biomarkerid ning inimandmete tõlgendamine
  • statistika – annuse-reaktsiooni seose hindamine, nt võrdlusdoosi modelleerimine ja keerukate (epidemioloogiliste) andmekogumite analüüs
  • loomade toitumine – loomade kokkupuute hindamine
