Биологични опасности
Експертната група по биологични опасности (BIOHAZ) предоставя научни съвети относно биологичните опасности във връзка с безопасността на храните и болестите, предавани посредством храни. Това включва болести по животните, които се предават на хората; трансмисивни спонгиформни енцефалопатии; микробиология на храните; хигиена на храните и свързаните с нея въпроси за управление на отпадъците.
Членовете на експертната група BIOHAZ са учени от цяла Европа с експертен опит в областта на:
- Епидемиология на зоонозите, предавани с храна (Salmonella, Campylobacter и др.)
- Антимикробна резистентност
- Обработване на вторични животински продукти
- Вируси, пренасяни с храна
- Проверка на месото при всички видове животни, отглеждани за производство на храни
- Хигиена на храните и микробиология
- Микробиологични критерии
- Биологични рискове, свързани с композитни продукти и с пресни продукти;
- Обеззаразяване на месни трупове (антимикробно обработване)
- Качествена оценка на микробиологичния риск
- ТСЕ (епидемиология, патология, диагностика, оценка на експозицията).

Networks
What are EFSA's networks?
EFSA’s networks consist of nationally appointed EU Member State organisations with expertise in the fields covered by the network. Representatives of the Commission and of other organisations (including those from outside the EU) with specific expertise may also be invited to participate in the work of EFSA Networks.
Networks are chaired by EFSA and supported by relevant EFSA units. Their aim is to facilitate scientific cooperation in the field of EFSA’s mission by:
- coordinating activities,
- exchanging information,
- developing and implementing joint projects,
- and exchanging expertise and best practices.

BSE-TSE
Set up to strengthen the scientific cooperation on BSE-TSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy and Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies) issues, reduce the duplication of activities and hence avoid divergence of opinion.
