Ad hoc stakeholder meeting on consumer safety of feed additives containing selenium

Background

On 25 November 2024, EFSA held an online ad-hoc meeting with interested feed business representatives involved in currently ongoing and closed applications on feed additives containing selenium. Representatives from the European Commission (EC) and some Member States participated to the meeting. 

After the adoption of the EFSA opinion on ‘Consumer safety of feed additives containing selenium’, the EC requested to applicants to produce data that could complement the assessment done by the FEEDAP Panel. The objective of the meeting was to explain the scientific rational which led to the conclusions expressed in the EFSA opinion. In particular, the discussion focused on the limitations identified by the FEEDAP Panel regarding the deposition data available at the time the opinion was adopted
