Joint celebration of EFSA and AESAN 5 Year Anniversary - 11-13 September 2007
International University Menéndez y Pelayo and Spanish Food Safety Authority (AESAN)are organising a joint conference at the occasion of 5 Year Anniversary of AESAN and EFSA. Both EFSA and AESAN play an important role in providing independent scientific advice and clear communication on existing and emerging risks, thus contributing to safer and healthier Europe.
The aim of the conference is to discuss food safety and nutrition related topics as well as to present key achievements of the two Food Safety Authorities over the last five years. In addition, the participants will talk about the need for sound risk assessments to underpin food law at national and EU level, the importance to communicate risk assessment, and the involvement of interested parties in building the confidence of stakeholders and consumers.
During the last day of the conference, which is devoted to the 5 Year Anniversary of the two Authorities, EFSA’s Executive Director, Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle, will present Authority’s achievements over past years and future plans.
The conference is hosted by International University Menéndez y Pelayoand will take place from 11 till 13 September 2007.
