Ad hoc meeting 1st workshop on innovative biopesticides (bioNAS) - RNA-based technology for use in Plant Protection Products (PPP)

Background

On 13 June 2025, EFSA held an online ad hoc meeting/workshop with delegates from GreenLight Biosciences, a business representative, to present a novel technology for use in plant protection products (PPP) based on RNA. Representatives from the European Commission (EC) and Member States (MSs) participated to the meeting.  
This workshop is part of a series that aims to create a forum where EFSA and Member State experts can meet industry representatives in relation to innovative biopesticide technologies, facilitating interaction between the parties through discussion and Q&A sessions. 
The insights collected during this session will aid EFSA and MSs when it comes to evaluating upcoming dossiers/substances based on this new technology.
