Kumitat Xjentifiku
Il-Kumitat Xjentifiku jiżviluppa metodoloġiji armonizzati tal-valutazzjoni tar-riskju dwar kwistjonijiet xjentifiċi ta’ natura orizzontali fl-oqsma ta’ kompetenza tal-EFSA fejn l-approċċi madwar l-UE mhumiex diġà definiti. Huwa jipprovdi koordinazzjoni ġenerali biex tiġi żgurata konsistenza fl-opinjonijiet xjentifiċi mħejjija mill-Bordijiet Xjentifiċi tal-EFSA. Huwa jipprovdi wkoll pariri xjentifiċi strateġiċi lill-maniġment tal-EFSA.
Il-Membri tal-Kumitat Xjentifiku huma xjenzati prominenti minn madwar l-Ewropa, ta’ eċċellenza xjentifika rikonoxxuta b’kompetenzi li jinfirxu bejn id-dixxiplini fil-mandat, l-anzjanità u l-esperjenza preċedenti tal-EFSA ma’ korpi xjentifiċi:
- Prattika ta’ valutazzjoni tar-riskju - valutazzjoni tar-riskju għas-saħħa tal-bniedem, konsum tal-ikel u valutazzjoni ta’ esponiment, valutazzjoni tar-riskju ambjentali, valutazzjoni tar-riskju għas-saħħa tal-annimali, tossikoloġija, mikrobijoloġija, nutrizzjoni tal-bniedem, epidemjoloġija, saħħa tal-annimali, benessri tal-annimali, mediċina tal-bniedem, mediċina veterinarja, iġjene tal-ikel, teknoloġija tal-ikel, kimika, bijoloġija, bijokimika, xjenzi tal-ħajja.
- Kwistjonijiet xjentifiċi trażversali – approċċi statistiċi fil-valutazzjoni tar-riskju, it-tħejjija ta’ gwida għall-valutazzjoni tas-sikurezza tal-applikazzjonijiet ta’ teknoloġiji ġodda fil-qasam alimentari u l-għalf, l-armonizzazzjoni tal-użu ta’ suppożizzjonijiet prestabbiliti fin-nuqqas ta’ data reali, il-valutazzjoni tas-sikurezza ta’ sustanzi botaniċi u preparazzjonijiet botaniċi u l-introduzzjoni ta’ tekniki komplementari vvalidati fil-valutazzjoni tar-riskju bl-użu ta’ teknoloġiji “omiċi”, QSAR u mudelli matematiċi.
Work programme
The current Scientific Committee work programme runs from 2025 to 2027. Towards the end of 2026, a consultation of EFSA panels and units will take place to gather ideas to be discussed for possible inclusion in the next work programme spanning 2027-2029. The document includes recently added topics for the development of cross-cutting guidance documents.

Networks
What are EFSA's networks?
EFSA’s networks consist of nationally appointed EU Member State organisations with expertise in the fields covered by the network. Representatives of the Commission and of other organisations (including those from outside the EU) with specific expertise may also be invited to participate in the work of EFSA Networks.
Networks are chaired by EFSA and supported by relevant EFSA units. Their aim is to facilitate scientific cooperation in the field of EFSA’s mission by:
- coordinating activities,
- exchanging information,
- developing and implementing joint projects,
- and exchanging expertise and best practices.
