permissible level
Description:
Maximum level of a substance or other agent to which people can safely be exposed over a specified period of time
Context:
A permissible level is the maximum amount of a substance allowed in food that is considered safe for consumers.
EFSA supports these limits by assessing scientific data to determine safe exposure levels and estimating how much people consume through their diet. Based on EFSA’s advice, EU authorities set legal limits to ensure food safety and protect public health.
