Info session on “Climate change as a driver of emerging risks for food and feed safety, plant, animal health and nutritional quality”
09.00-12.00 (CET)
EFSA organised an open online info session about the recently completed CLEFSA (Climate change and Emerging risks for Food Safety) project for developing and testing new methodologies for the identification, characterisation and analysis of emerging risks linked with climate change. A report on the project was published on 25 June 2020.
The overall aim of this event was to discuss and disseminate the CLEFSA report to an international audience including EFSA panels and Scientific Committee members, European Commission services, sister agencies, H2020 projects, national agencies inside and outside the EU, international intergovernmental organisations with relevant expertise, coordinators of relevant international projects and programmes, farmers, breeders and citizens at large, and to identify opportunities for promoting synergies across related activities.
Following the opening plenary session where general information about the project was presented, participants were divided into four small groups on specific topics:
Break-out session 1 | Area specific synergies and interactions with other projects/activities in the field of contaminants
Break-out session 2 | Area specific synergies and interactions with other projects/activities in the field of animal health
Break-out session 3 | Area specific synergies and interactions with other projects/activities in the field of biological hazards to human health
Break-out session 4 | Area specific synergies and interactions with other projects/activities in the field of methodologies
The outcome of the discussion groups was presented and discussed in a final plenary session. EFSA will publish a report collecting and summarising the discussions held during the meeting and its conclusions, together with the recording of whole event. The presentations are available on the event’s landing page.
