risk communication

Description:
The interactive exchange of information and opinions throughout the risk analysis process, including the explanation of risk assessment findings and the basis of risk management decisions. The levels of interactive exchange include: the dissemination of public information about risks to consumers or other affected groups; the dialogue within and between risk assessment and risk management; engagement with interested parties affected by risk analysis outcomes.
Context:

Risk communication in food safety is the process of sharing clear, accurate, and timely information about food-related risks with the public, stakeholders, and decision-makers. It explains what the risk is, how likely it is, and what actions can be taken to reduce it.

EFSA uses risk communication to help people understand potential hazards in food, such as contaminants, allergens, or pathogens. We organise campaigns, publish press releases, reports, scientific opinions, guidance documents, and interactive tools to inform EU authorities, industry, and consumers.
