Information session on the EFSA guidance on predicting environmental concentrations in soil

Background

EFSA is holding an information session with stakeholders to present the EFSA Guidance Document for predicting environmental concentrations of active substances of plant protection products and transformation products of these active substances in soil.

EFSA’s guidance documents on exposure to soil organisms and supporting software tools are prepared to support risk assessments of plant protection products under Regulation (EC) no 1107/2009.

Objectives

The overall aim of the info session is to present and explain the content of the guidance document and provide practical examples on how to use the guidance and the supporting software tools.

Potential topics to be discussed include:

  • Overview of the legal framework;
  • General presentation of the guidance;
  • Explanation of the described scientific approach and associated methodology;
  • Presentation on practical examples on how to use the guidance and the software tools
  • Any other business.

Structure

Participants will have the opportunity to provide feedback and participate in the various discussions that will follow the scientific presentations. EFSA will issue a short report summarising the discussions which will be published on the EFSA webpage alongside the presentations.

Who should attend?

The information session is intended for all interested stakeholders in the field of pesticide regulation. Participation is limited to a maximum of 80 participants, including speakers and other experts already identified by EFSA. A further selection will ensure a sufficient representation of the various fields of expertise and geographical balance.

Please note that registration may close once the maximum number of participants is reached or, at the latest, by 03 May 2019 at midnight CET. Potential participants will be informed whether they have been selected or not.

Logistic information

The information session will be held in Parma, Italy, from 14:00 on 04 June to 13:00 on 05 June 2019. Further details will be communicated to selected participants. English will be the language of the event; no translation will be provided.

There is no fee for participation. However, participants are required to cover expenses related to travel and accommodation.
