EFSA’s holistic approach to food safety emphasizes the interconnectedness of human health, animal health, and the environment through the One Health concept. Rather than focusing on individual hazards, it considers entire food systems, assessing both upstream environmental and downstream consumer impacts. EFSA also develops methods to evaluate risks from multiple stressors simultaneously, as seen in the field of honeybee health for example and integrates risk-benefit analysis to weigh both the potential harms and nutritional benefits of foods. EFSA also collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders through workshops and projects to enhance comprehensive risk assessment and incorporates diverse data sources, including social media.
