Context:

A GLP monitoring authority is an official body that oversees and checks whether laboratories follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards. Their role is to inspect labs, ensure studies are conducted correctly, and confirm that the data produced is reliable and trustworthy.

In food safety, EFSA uses information from studies certified by GLP monitoring authorities to make sure the data on chemicals, additives, contaminants, or other substances under evaluation is of high quality. This allows EFSA to base its risk assessments and scientific advice on reliable, well-documented studies, helping protect consumers and guide EU food regulations.
