FIP Stakeholder meeting on Hexane

Background

On 26 March 2026, EFSA held an ad hoc meeting with industry representatives from FEDIOL (EU vegetable oil and proteinmeal industry association), a registered stakeholder organisation, and other representatives involved in the execution of toxicity studies that are intended to be conducted in response to the call for data for the re-evaluation of technical hexane used as an extraction solvent in the preparation of food and food ingredients.

During the meeting, organised in line with the EFSA’s catalogue on initiative for regulated products, the participants discussed and clarified the details of the methodology. The insights collected during this session will be considered in the execution of the toxicity studies.
