Seminar on handling food emergencies/crises in the food chain for ENP countries
The seminar was organised and financed by the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument, managed by the Directorate-General Enlargement of the European Commission, in close co-operation with EFSA, the Directorate-General for Health and Consumers and the Directorate-General External Relations of the European Commission. It targeted the 10 Mediterranean countries of the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) programme, and brought together around 50 participants.
On the one hand, the seminar gave EFSA and the European Commission the possibility to initiate a closer cooperation with the food safety authorities in the Mediterranean ENP countries. On the other hand, the beneficiary countries got an insight into the European Union system on crisis handling and the possibility to take an active part in the EU rapid alert system for food and feed.
