Joint Conference - Working Together Towards Safer Food in Europe

EFSA, in cooperation with the Romanian National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority is organising this joint conference. The aim is to discuss about food safety topics with our colleagues in Romania and look together at best ways to contribute to safer food in Europa and at the involvement of stakeholders in this important task.

The official opening and welcome by Prof. Patrick Wall, Chair of Management Board, will be followed by a series of presentations highlighting the need for sound risk assessments to underpin food law at national and EU level, the importance to communicate risk assessment, and the involvement of interested parties in building the confidence of consumers and other stakeholders.

A wide range of stakeholders has been invited to attend the event. Among the participants are representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Rural Development of Romania, Romanian National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, consumer associations and media.

The Joint Conference will be preceded by the Joint Press Conference, opened by Mr. Decebal Traian Remes, Romanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Ms Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle, EFSA’s Executive Director.
The event is one concrete example of enhancing dialogue and co-operation among EFSA and EU Member States. The conference is organised on the occasion of EFSA’s 32nd Management Board meeting  kindly hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Rural Development of Romania scheduled on 11th September always in Bucharest.
