In June 2024, EFSA’s Management Board adopted a new Independence Policy, further strengthening the way in which the Authority manages the interests of its scientific experts and all professionals with whom it works. Building on two decades of experience, the policy seeks to attract top experts while safeguarding EFSA from undue influence. Underpinning the policy are a set of implementing rules that guide the declaration and assessment of relevant interests, prevent conflicts, and outline enforcement measures for breaches. The policy takes effect once a decision by the Executive Director's decision on competing interest management is signed, following endorsement by the Management Board.
