NP/EFSA/NIF/2023/03 Novel foods Risk Assessment Data Modelling and Extraction
- Budget: 57 600 €
- Approximate launch date: 19/09/2023
- Deadline to register interest: 18/09/2023
Background:
The EFSA Nutrition and Food Innovation Unit aims to develop a structured database containing key information from EFSA’s Novel Food (NF) opinions. This database will be used to support the risk assessment (RA) activities, allowing users to (i) search, filter and compare data across NF opinions; (ii) extract data; (iii) perform analysis and meta-analysis; (iv) enter data systematically at the end of the RA process.
Objectives:
The objectives of the project are as follows:
- Data modelling: develop a data model that can cover all relevant data for the risk assessment of NF dossiers, in consideration of the already existing OpenFoodTox database, OECD Harmonised Templates (OHTs) and IUCLID documents. The data model should represent data in a structured manner, selecting the most appropriate data type to describe each piece of information, and using controlled vocabularies whenever possible.
- Data extraction: extract information from all published NF opinions to date, using the data model developed in the previous objective.
- Guideline for data entry: propose a guideline, standard operating procedure or best approach for entering new data into the database
Selection criteria -Technical and professional capacity:
The tenderer must have the technical and professional capacity to perform the contract in accordance with the tender specifications (extensive and demonstrable experience in scientific data modelling and extraction). The tenderer should provide a list of major projects or publications related to the subject matter of this call, carried out in the course of the past 5 years.
