Public consultation: welfare assessment of dairy cows in small scale farms

FSA is extending the closing date of the public consultation on its review of information on small farms for dairy cows. Stakeholders and other interested parties now have until 13 February to submit comments. It includes an overview of the number of dairy cows in the EU and farm size variation across countries, as well as a working definition and categorisation of small scale farms for the purpose of this assessment. This review will be part of a scientific opinion on the welfare of dairy cows in small scale farms, to be published in 2015.
