Pre-Accession seminar on Dietary Reference values, Nutrition and Health Claims
EFSA hosted a two-day seminar on dietary reference values, nutrition and health claims in the context of its Pre-Accession Programme 2009/2010 for candidate and potential candidate countries.
The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of the role and the work of EFSA’s Dietetic products, nutrition and allergies Panel.
In addition, representatives from the European Commission, France and United Kingdom, presented their roles and responsibilities in the field of nutrition.
Representatives of Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Türkiye presented the work of their competent authorities dealing with nutrition and health claims issues, and delivered an overview of present and future activities in the fields. Providing training seminar on this topic should enhance the beneficiary countries’ capacity to disseminate competences and improve services, particularly in the framework of the accession negotiations, as well as the adaption, implementation and enforcement of the “acquis communautaire” (or the body of common rights and obligations which bind all the Member States together within the European Union).
