Ad hoc stakeholder meeting on methodological aspects on botanical feed additives

Background

On 5 February 2025, EFSA met with delegates from the stakeholder organisations – the FEFANA “Feed Flavourings Authorisation Consortium” (FEFANA FFAC) representing 22 EU based companies and the consultant CoGreen - in the context of an ad hoc meeting on methodological aspects and the standard approach to essential oils, particularly regarding their safety for target animal species.

The meeting, organised in line with the EFSA’s catalogue on initiative for regulated products, was aimed at informing applicants on methodological updates in the approach to assess the safety for the target species of botanicals.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss with the industry representatives some scientific requirements requested for the assessment.

Fruitful exchanges took place on all the topics. EFSA thanks all participants for the constructive discussions and excellent collaboration.
