Abstract

Extensive literature searches as background data for the categorisation of Erwinia amylovora, Xylophilus ampelinus and Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. insidiosus in the EU were performed. Specific topics were addressed selecting relevant search terms embedded in a defined search strategy. Relevant references were considered to describe 15 topics, summarizing information on taxonomy, pest biology, detection, distribution, spread, host plants, pest effects and control of each of the three bacteria. For Erwinia amylovora in total 195 references were selected and are cited in this report enabling a satisfactory overview of this well-studied pathogen. For Xylophilus ampelinus in total 67 references and for Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. insidiosus 57 relevant references were considered to summarize information on pathogen All literature retrieved by the extensive literature searches for each pathogen is made available in an EndNote library for further in depth studies dealing with these diseases.
