Info Session on EFSA’s 2026/2027 Funding opportunities

Background

Scientific cooperation with external partners plays a vital role in EFSA’s scientific work. A substantial part of this cooperation is carried out through calls for grants or tenders that concern the outsourcing of scientific tasks. In line with EFSA’s Strategy 2027, partnerships with Competent Organisations in EU Member States, Norway and Iceland has become increasingly important. Such partnerships help achieve two of EFSA’s strategic objectives:

  • Delivering scientific advice: ensuring timely, high-quality and robust scientific input for EU risk managers and policymakers
  • Preparing for future challenges: reinforcing EFSA’s capacity to address emerging risk assessment needs and adapt to evolving regulatory demands

EFSA’s outsourced activities cover a broad spectrum of scientific work, including:

  • Drafting scientific reports and opinions for regulated product assessments
  • Supporting the collection, generation and sharing of critical data
  • Advancing risk assessment methodologies and their corresponding guidance documents

This 2.5-hour Info Session will be dedicated to presenting EFSA’s partnership approach and provide an overview of the funding opportunities planned for 2026/27.

Objectives of the meeting

The Info Session will provide participants with an understanding of EFSA’s evolving partnership strategy and upcoming opportunities. Specifically, the session will offer:

  • Insights into EFSA’s Partnership Strategy and its implementation

Learn more about EFSA's scientific cooperation with Competent Organisations across EU Member States, Norway and Iceland, EFSA's grant and procurement mechanism, and the EFSA’s network of Focal Points.

  • Funding opportunities plan

Get an early look at EFSA’s draft work plan for 2026/27 and the calls for proposals (grants) and tender (procurement) that it includes.
