EFSA’s Stakeholder Consultative Platform was created in 2005. The Platform is composed of EU-wide stakeholder organisations working in areas related to the food chain. It advises EFSA’s Executive Director on EFSA’s work and provides feedback on the effectiveness of EFSA’s policies in response to stakeholders’ concerns.
The twenty-four organisations that currently make up the Stakeholder Consultative Platform consist of NGOs representing consumers; NGOs involved in public health, plant health, animal health and welfare and environmental protection; farmers and primary processors; food industry; trade and catering. The members of the consultative platform are selected after a public call for expressions of interest from organisations representing the main stakeholders.
The Platform meets three times per year in plenary meetings and provides a forum for dialogue, exchange of ideas, information and views.
Stakeholders Platform meetings to be held in 2015:
- 10 March 2015, Brussels
- 15 June 2015, Milano
- 24-25 November 2015, Brussels
Stakeholder discussion groups
EFSA’s Stakeholder Consultative Platform also sets up specialist discussion groups on specific issues such as emerging risks, transparency and access to information, and also on food chemical occurrence data.
