Public consultation on the draft "Guidance on submission of a dossier for safety evaluation by the EFSA of a recycling process to produce recycled plastics intended to be used for manufacture of materials and articles in contact with food"
In line with EFSA’s policy on openness and transparency and in order for EFSA to receive comments from the scientific community and stakeholders on its work, EFSA engages in public consultations on key documents. In this respect EFSA's Scientific Panel on food additives, flavourings, processing aids and materials in contact with food (AFC) has launched an open consultation on the draft of the document entitled “Guidance on submission of a dossier for safety evaluation by the EFSA of a recycling process to produce recycled plastics intended to be used for manufacture of materials and articles in contact with food” under draft EC Commission Regulation on recycled plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foods [SANCO/3447/2007], adopted by the Standing Committee on the food chain and animal health on 14 December 2007[1]. This document intends to provide guidance to applicants for preparation of applications allowing a risk assessment of a recycling process by EFSA, in view of authorisation according to the draft Regulation SANCO/3447/2007.
Interested parties are invited to submit written comments by 6 March 2008. The outcome of this consultation will be taken into account during the finalization of the revised Guidance Document. Please use exclusively the electronic template provided with the documents for submission of comments and refer to the line numbering. Comments submitted by e-mail or via surface mail cannot be taken into account.
Only relevant comments will be further considered by the AFC Panel and taken into consideration where these will enhance the scientific quality or understanding of the document.
