Molecular typing for food-borne pathogens

EFSA has evaluated the requirements for the design of surveillance activities for food-borne pathogens in animals, feed and food when molecular typing methods are applied. Experts have also reviewed the requirements for harmonised data collection and analysis. Using comparable data is important to carry out joint analysis, such as compare trends over time and geographical areas.

Molecular typing methods are laboratory techniques that can enable the classification and comparison of food-borne bacteria in animals, feed and food.
