Webinar on the Open MCRA tool for prospective cumulative risk assessment

Background

EFSA and RIVM are collaborating to implement dietary risk assessment of combined exposure to multiple pesticides using the Monte Carlo Risk Assessment (MCRA) tool. This type of risk assessment is also referred to as cumulative risk assessment (CRA) or mixture risk assessment (MRA).

A distinction is made between retrospective CRA, which aims to estimate potential risks for specific populations over a recent past period, and prospective CRA, which focuses on estimating potential risks in the context of pesticide approvals, product authorisations, or the setting of maximum residue levels (MRLs).This informative stakeholder webinar focused on prospective CRA methodology and its application using the MCRA tool.

Objectives of the event

The main objective of the webinar is to:

  • Provide an overview of EFSA’s ongoing activities on the cumulative risk assessment of pesticides
  • Offer insights into both retrospective and prospective CRA methodologies
  • Demonstrate how prospective CRA can be performed using the MCRA tool
