Ad hoc meeting with stakeholders - Workshop on the development of a fit-for-purpose approach for assessing the risk of low-concern active substances
Background
An EFSA project aiming at developing a stepwise methodological approach for a fit for purpose environmental risk assessment (ERA) for active substances that may pose a low concern to the environment (LCAs) started early 2024, coordinated by the Aristotle Thessaloniki University. As part of the project, a workshop was organised by the project consortium and EFSA, to present and discuss the approach proposed with the MS experts and stakeholders. Breakout groups were organised to collect feedback and input from them on different aspects, i.e. the overall approach, the fate and behaviour aspects of such substances, the ecotoxicology testing of substances acting via a physical mode of action, the weight of evidence of LCAs assessment and the communication with risk managers of the outcome of assessment.
Thanks to all participants for contributing to this successful event!
