Info session on the EFSA guidance on assessment criteria for stunning methods

Brussels
9 June 2015

About 65 stakeholders from Member States, industry, international organisations, academia and consultancies met in Brussels to discuss the new EFSA guidance in the area of stunning methods at the time of killing of food producing animals.

EFSA scientists presented the guidance document, which focuses on the criteria used for evaluating studies on the effectiveness of stunning methods. A representative from the European Commission gave an overview of the legal framework.

Each session was followed by a discussion which provided an opportunity to ask questions and exchange views on the scientific principles explained in the guidance document.
