Public consultation on the draft scientific opinion on the re‐evaluation of the existing health‐based guidance values for copper and exposure assessment from all sources

In line with the European Food Safety Authority's (EFSA) policy on openness and transparency, EFSA conducts public consultations on draft scientific outputs in order to receive input from the scientific community and stakeholders. EFSA conducted a public consultation to receive input from interested parties on the draft scientific opinion on the re‐evaluation of the existing health‐based guidance values for copper and exposure assessment from all sources. The draft opinion was prepared by a working group of the Scientific Committee. The Scientific Committee endorsed the draft opinion for public consultation at the 108^th Plenary meeting on 27‐28 April, 2022. The public consultation was open from 25 May 2022 until 1 August 2022, hosted on the Open EFSA website and supported by an electronic comment submission tool including instructions to stakeholders for comment submission (see Appendix A). The draft opinion was accompanied by an Annex containing detailed data tables relevant to the exposure assessment. EFSA received 32 comments from 9 interested parties. EFSA and its Scientific Committee wish to thank all stakeholders for their contributions to this work. The present Technical Report contains the comments received and responses from the working group on how they have been taken into consideration toward finalising the opinion. The final opinion was adopted at the Scientific Committee Plenary meeting on 16‐17 November 2022 and is published in the EFSA Journal.
