EFSA calls for coordinated action at EU and international levels to address decline of pollinators

More than 100 international bee specialists from a broad range of scientific disciplines and representing various institutions met in Parma earlier this year for EFSA’s Scientific Colloquium entitled “Towards holistic approaches to the risk assessment A specialised field of applied science that involves reviewing scientific data and studies in order to evaluate risks associated with certain hazards. It involves four steps: hazard identification, hazard characterisation, exposure assessment and risk characterisation of multiple stressors in bees”. An editorial published in the EFSA Journal outlines the main themes and discussion points from the meeting. A more detailed account will be published as a Summary Report on the EFSA website later this year.
