The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) asked the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) to produce a guidance document for the assessment of the toxigenic potential of Bacillus species used in animal nutrition. In line with EFSA’s policy on openness and transparency and in order for EFSA to receive comments from the scientific community and stakeholders on its work, EFSA engages in public consultations on key issues. Accordingly, the draft guidance, which was endorsed by the FEEDAP Panel on 7 April 2011, was released for public consultation from 25 May to 16 September 2011. Stakeholders were informed and invited to submit comments. EFSA has evaluated the comments received and considered all contributions that met the submission criteria and enhance the quality or understanding of the document.
