Special meeting of the Management Board - 29 April 2008

29 avril 2008

The Management Board selected scientists for two new EFSA panels: the Panel on food additives and nutrient sources added to food (ANS), and the Panel on food contact materials, enzymes, flavourings and processing aids (CEF). These two Panels will replace the former Panel on food contact materials, enzymes, flavourings, processing aids and materials in contact with food (AFC). The two new Panels have been created to strengthen the expertise in the area of food additives and food contact materials and ensure a mid- and long-term adequate output in this area of the food chain. One of the Board’s main responsibilities is to appoint the Executive Director, members of the Scientific Committee and the Scientific Panels.

The list of the chosen scientific experts and their Declarations of Interests, together with a report outlining the procedure followed for evaluating the candidates will be available on EFSA’s website as soon as the offers are accepted.

In view of the forthcoming renewal of EFSA's Panels, the Management Board recommended the launch of a capacity building programme to enable EFSA to be in a position to receive applications and select experts from all Member States, in particular the 12 new Member States.
