Libor Dupal has been working for the Czech Consumer Association since 2002 holding the positions of Executive Director and Chair of the Board. He represents consumers’ interests in various professional platforms and groups. At national level, he chairs the Working Group Foodstuffs and Consumer under the Czech Technology Platform for Foodstuffs and the Steering Committee of the National Programme of Czech Quality and the Section for Quality in Consumer Protection under the Czech Council for Quality. As well, he is a member of the National Coordinating Group for Food Safety of the Ministry of Agriculture and of the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. At international level, he represents Czech consumers in ANEC (the European Association for the Co-ordination of Consumer Representation in Standardisation) and in the Committee on Consumer Policy of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO/COPOLCO).
Beforehand, Mr Dupal worked for the Czech Trade Inspection (1990-1994) and the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing (1994-2002). In preparation of the Czech Republic’s access to the European Union, he coordinated the activities for the country’s adoption of the acquis communautaire in the areas of free movement of goods and technical barriers to trade, including the sector of foodstuffs.
Mr Dupal graduated in foodstuffs technology and microbiology from the Prague Institute of Chemical Technology (1979).
