Georgi Georgiev

Since November 2018, Prof. Georgiev holds the position of Director of the Bulgarian Risk Assessment Center of Food Chain (RACFCH). Before, at the RACFCH he held the position of acting Director of “Risk assessment in the food chain” (2017-2018) and of senior scientific fellow (2012-2017) working in the areas of animal health and welfare, animal reproduction, biological risks associated to food, zoonotic diseases and antimicrobial resistance. After his post-doctoral degree in veterinary medical sciences, he served as a Professor at the National Diagnostic and Research Veterinary Medical Institute of Sofia (2008-2012) and he’s currently teaching virology and epidemiology at the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Forestry in Sofia. He became a member of the EFSA’s Management Board in July 2020.
