Background: EFSA has been requested to conduct pest categorisations for 133 plant pests for the EU territory. The aim is, in preparation of the implementation of the new EU plant health law, to deliver an updated pest categorisation for all those plant pests listed in the Annexes of Directive 2000/29/EC for which a recent PRA or pest categorisation is not available. Most of these 133 pest categorisations regard individual plant pest species (for an example of a recently published pest categorisation, please see https://efsa.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.2903/j.efsa.2017.5106), however few regard large groups. One of these very large groups regards the non-EU Scolytinae species of coniferous trees. Examples of tasks related to the present negotiated procedure may include: development of a comprehensive list of non-EU Scolytinae species of coniferous trees with information on distribution and hosts (genera); collection of data and information on species selected from the comprehensive list based on criteria to be agreed subsequently; data summary and analysis; drafting scientific or technical documents; participation to EFSA PLH Panel working group meetings (physically or remotely).
Selection criteria - technical and professional capacity: The selected project team should be composed of at least one senior researcher and ideally two researchers with demonstrated experience in the subfamily Scolytinae. Further detailed selection criteria will be published with the call.
