Guidance on monitoring and reporting
EFSA has issued number of reports on technical specifications to guide the annual monitoring and reporting of zoonoses, zoonotic agents and antimicrobial resistance in food and animals as well as that of food-borne outbreaks done by the Member States of the European Union.
Each year EFSA issues updated reporting manuals to assist the national reporters in the reporting of the data. These manuals define the zoonotic agents, animal species and food categories to be covered in the reporting. The manuals also specify the types of food-borne outbreaks to be reported on. Advice is given on the information to be included as well as how it is to be reported through EFSA’s web reporting application.
Specifications for harmonised monitoring and reporting, and data analyses
EFSA produces, in collaboration with Member States’ experts, technical specifications on harmonised monitoring and reporting for zoonotic agents and food-borne outbreaks in animals and food in the European Union. Member States may use these specifications when putting in place national monitoring and reporting systems.
In addition, some specifications on the analyses of the data on zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance and food-borne outbreaks at the EU level have also been issued.
