EFSA@EXPO: Nutrition challenges ahead
Obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and malnutrition are just some of the major problems facing scientists and nutrition experts all over the world. Rapid developments in science and technology are constantly improving our understanding of these issues, but we have a long way to go.
This session – split into sections on “Food for me” and “Food for you” – will be chaired by Dr Junshi Chen, from China’s National Centre for Food Safety Risk Assessment, and Professor Androniki Naska of the University of Athens. The keynote lecture on “Nutrition in the 21st century” will be delivered by Professor Thomas Sanders of King’s College London.
Other topics up for discussion include metabolic programming, novel foods, and under-used sources of key nutrients. Dr Gina Kennedy will conclude the presentations by looking at “Using agro-biodiversity for healthier diets.
The “Nutrition challenges ahead” session takes place on 15 October 2015, from 09:00 to 13:00. Follow the session live on the EFSA@EXPO website!
