Information exchange

The Information Exchange Platform (IEP) was developed by EFSA in collaboration with the Focal Points to provide a platform for the Advisory Forum, Focal Points and EFSA to facilitate the exchange of risk assessment outputs undertaken by official bodies in different Member States. The IEP was launched for a pilot phase in 2008 and is hosted by EFSA on behalf of the Member States. The site is accessible via EFSA’s extranet site through password controlled access. The aim of the site is to facilitate the information exchange of risk assessment activities between and amongst Member States and EFSA and it also stores:

  • mandates or requests to conduct a risk assessment;
  • outputs of a risk assessment;
  • work plans of national food authorities; and
  • country specific information such as country profiles.

In 2010, the IEP was evaluated by a Working Group. The findings and recommendations are summarised in the IEP Evaluation Report 2010.
