Toolkit for plant pests surveillance
Webinar| 6 October 2020, from 15.00 to 16.00 (CEST)
The introduction and spread of plant pests in the European Union can have significant economic, social and environmental consequences. EU Member States need to be ready to protect their plants and reassure European trade partners on the status of plant pests in the Union territory. The European Commission asked EFSA to support Member States in the planning and execution of their survey activities, in the context of the new plant health Regulation (EU) 2016/2031, which emphasises prevention and risk targeting. In response, EFSA has designed and is developing a “Toolkit for plant pest surveillance”, which includes pest survey cards and story maps for preparing surveys, guidelines for designing surveys, and statistical tools for evaluating survey efforts.
This webinar will guide participants through the EFSA toolkit, explaining how it can be used to prepare and design statistically sound, risk-based surveys.
The webinar is part of EFSA’s contribution to the International Year of Plant Health.
Participants may submit questions during the webinar, which EFSA will answer orally and in writing after the event. EFSA will publish a recording of the webinar on its website.
