Coinciding with the start of Europe Day commemorations in Parma this year, the European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy Tonio Borg is to make his first visit to EFSA on 3 May 2013.
Commissioner Borg will be welcomed to the Authority’s offices in Parma by the Chair of EFSA’s Management Board Sue Davies and EFSA’s Executive Director Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle.
An important objective of the visit is to learn more about how EFSA operates according to its guiding principles and core values. There will also be an exchange of views between the Authority and the Commission delegation on important recent and ongoing areas of EFSA’s scientific work such as GMOs, pesticides, endocrine active substances, health claims and on major public health issues and challenges.
During the visit, the Commissioner plans to address and talk to staff about EFSA’s scientific work as well as current and future challenges for the European Union institutions and its decentralised agencies such as EFSA.
