Biological Hazard applications

Under specific European Union authorisation procedures, EFSA’s Panel on Biological Hazards (BIOHAZ) provides scientific advice on the safety evaluation of applications in two scientific areas: animal by-product treatments and decontamination substances other than potable water for food of animal origin.

The BIOHAZ Panel is also involved in various steps of the TSE tests evaluation procedures in collaboration with the Joint Research Centre’s Institute for Reference Material and Measurements of the European Commission.
